Emmerah (see what she looks like here) is a character from a series of short stories that a friend and I are in the process of writing. In order to make the character seem more real - and thus more writable - I decided to create a blog - written as though she is actually speaking to those who read.
For those who are confused here is brief explanation of what exactly Emmerah is.
Emmerah was a normal girl who - after being betrayed and utterly devastated by her husband - tore her heart out. This usually would have resulted in death, however due to an irreversible pact - made on the night of a blood red moon, with a devil who came in her dying moments with the words"Let me take your heart of flesh and blood and replace it with one that cannot feel" - she continued to live, by the power of vengeance and with the purpose to destroy any who would take advantage of a pure heart.
Now unable to truly feel anything, she lives in a graveyard with her colleague Meari - who had suffered a similar fate a few months prior to Emmerah. They run a small shop from this graveyard - situated on a very slightly different plane, that always seems to be shifting through time and location - where anyone who possesses a pure heart may enter and lay their case down. Emmerah divines the guilty's fate with her cards and, after taking their payment - in Emmerah's case it is a kiss - they exact revenge upon them.
Of course, sometimes it becomes difficult to determine who is innocent and who is truly guilty, and this brings me back to the purpose of the blog. After I have squeezed out Emmerahs history, up to the point where her heart is removed, I shall continue the blog by posing situations to the readers - who then, will hopefully help to determine how severely they should be punished, if at all.
There we go, I hope this has helped to clarify the reason for the existence of Emmerah Vows and some of Emmerahs rather dark, and slightly confusing, history.
